New Balance versus Nike
I've been a long time user of New Balance shoes. I found that switching to their shoes eliminated some knee pain I was having while jogging. I particularly like the soles with Adzorb material.<br /><br />I moved to Bangkok, Thailand 8 months ago, and here, I walk 2.5-6 miles a day just to get around the city, 5 days a week. It is hard to find New Balance shoes here larger than size 10, plus they cost 5X that of Nike shoes. So I bought a pair of Nike Pegasus 37 running shoes for around $30. Nikes are weird, really long like a canoe, with a plain one-compound sole. I found they feel real cushy at first, but there is a lot of heel slip and the sole eventually breaks in or collapses. After a month, I started to get knee pain on my right knee, under the kneecap.<br /><br />So I had to dole out $150 to get a pair of these New Balance Fresh Foam shoes here, as it's not worth it to hurt your knee over saving a hundred bucks. I was able to find them in size 10.5/2E. The knee pain has started to subside.<br /><br />What I like about the 1080 V11 is no more heel slip, as New Balance shoes don't have this problem. The sole on this model doesn't have Adzorb, but it feels cushy enough. Some reviewers have complained about the white part of the sole wearing away early, however it's because that is the main cushioning layer of the sole. Most of the sole is covered with a dark gray or yellow layer which is a hard compound for durability. New Balance had to leave part of the sole free of that layer to allow the sole to flex when you run. The white layer will wear down a bit, but the other hard compound layers over it will impart some durability to the sole.<br /><br />The only reason I don't order New Balance shoes from Amazon is in addition to paying $150 for the shoe (same as here), I have to pay around $80 in shipping and customs fee to ship to Thailand.

Buy Vomeros to help avoid and solve knee problems. Much better than the Air Max line.
Vomeros still have the best cushioning, while retaining stability, out of all the shoes I have ever purchased. Your knees will thank you. The "secret" appears to be in the different types of foams/cushioning that absorb light "slap" contact as well as hard "deep" foot falls, yet still bounce back and provide good stability so you do not twist your ankle, etc. My Air Max runners, by contrast, absorb the deep impact of my foot fall, but still "slap" the pavement when running. Keep in mind though that these version 11's aren't really better than the 10's... the tread design on the 11's is flawed, causing the sole to flex too easily at the midsole. Other than that, they are very good. I used to have knee problems until I switched to Vomeros... the Vomeros basically cured my knee problems.

These shoes are pretty much what I expected. I have a wide foot so I was worried about being able to slide my foot in and out. But the material is super stretchy and my foot went in with no problem. The upper material is very very thin, so this will probably be a shoe that I wear more on the summer months basically because I can't imagine them keeping my feet warm in the cold months. Also, since the material is very thin I would not recommend wearing them in rain or after rain. If you're looking for a shoe where your foot is secure and doesnt move around to much then this shoe is not for you. But over all is nice and unique looking. Very lightweight and a nice e shoe to just slip on if you need something quick.

Run a little on the larger side and make me look like my actual height are my only complains. Other than that delivered on time, lightweight, ran in them right as i finished up with the gym and they were at my door step had the chance to compare these to my old ones. very breathable. and stylish enough if you need a pair of black shoes these are great.
